Review: "Dreams of Gods & Monsters" by Laini Taylor

...Wow. I cannot believe I'm done. This has easily become one of my top series of all time and there are no words to describe how amazing this literary journey has been. I will miss being able to read about Karou, Akiva and their friends but more importantly I will miss this whole world that has been constructed and this immeasurable power and deep meaning behind the word, "hope." (Spoilers up ahead!) My favorite characters were hands down Zuzana and Mik. If you say you don't like them, you're probably lying. They are just amazing people that I would absolutely love to know in real life and I couldn't get enough of them. Every chapter around them and I couldn't help smiling, but the same could be said about Liraz and Ziri. So, to be honest, I really did pair those two together. Ever since Liraz had watched Ziri fighting I thought...Could it be? And a ship was born. I had no idea that they would not only get more time together but that the ship would go CANON. God, the chapter of their awkward confession was so hilarious and cute I nearly died (IF THERE IS A SPINOFF ABOUT THEIR STORY I WILL BE SO FLIPPING HAPPY). Karou and Akiva of course, were the most powerful couple of all and I was so close to being heartbroken for them when it seemed like they would never get their moment together. I felt fully convinced of their love for each other, but their desire was practically leaking from the pages and a few times I hoped they would get a room asap! Fights were intense, lives were lost and reborn, enemies were defeated and alliances were formed. This book - this whole series- will have you reading from start to finish and it will leave you gasping for more. I honestly believe that I'll have a hard time finding a series that can meet the standards of a series like this, but I will search nonetheless. Beautiful world. Beautiful characters. Beautiful series. One of the easiest five stars I've ever given.
